Still Strange

Life is supposed to
be getting back to
normal.
Is it for you?
Hasn’t happened in
my life.

A few months ago I caught another round of covid, this time mostly likely the B.5 variant, very contagious. I was bed-ridden for a week with fever, an intense dry cough with no production, weird headaches and body aches that moved around, brain function sketchy with a lot of fog. I knew it was covid, I’ve had it twice before. I was critically ill during the first round in January, 2020.
Key symptoms are unlike any other illness I’ve had: weird headache, intense fever and pain that jabs around in my body in nightmarishly random way (gremlins with ice picks claiming to be doing acupuncture), the weird, unrelenting dry cough that never produces anything. And the exhaustion, the unrelenting dragging exhaustion going on for weeks after the initial signs. And, as recent research is revealing, those of us who have re-infections have increasing health issues.
As much as possible I am ignoring the potential of covid related health issues. I have had two Moderna Vaccines and recently, the Moderna booster.  With each shot my troublesome health issues from my original bout of COVID in 2020 were mitigated, which I consider a kind of miracle.
My second covid event was Omicron, which was a mild case, so I basically ignored it and treated it as a cold. I did quarantine and masked when I went out in public, which has never been an issue for me. From my youth I have loved science, studied viruses and bacteria.  Reading reports are enjoyable, as are my conversations with Immanuel as I seek wisdom, then act on it.
A frustrating fact that has emerged is that some of us don’t test positive, thus are not eligible for the pills that are reported to lessen the symptoms while shortening the duration of the illness. When I didn’t test positive, (neither did my husband,) we had to tough out the illness, which once again felt life-threatening to me. My husband is more like a lot of people, fewer symptoms, shorter duration of fever and illness, quicker recovery. Thank God! He was the one to nurse me back to health and he was kind, thoughtful, and is a very good cook. Lucky me.
Another thing that has helped me with my emotions is that with the Jan. 6 committee process there are now millions of Americans who have a factual timeline of what happened when the crowd became a mob and stormed the Capital. Many people have taken a step back from a red or blue position to consider the constitution, the law, and the seriousness of events and actions on that day and in months before and after. And . . .
Not In It To Win It,” by Andy Stanley was published. I consider this book to be an effective look at key problems and solutions within the church that needs attention and change. Please, dear brothers and sisters, let’s get back to love, 1st Cor 13 living so that, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35.
